Life without Facebook

I've been Facebook-free for 2 days now and am doing better than I thought I would. Does it sound like I'm trying to get off the bottle? That's what it feels like!

It feels good to not have the need to check in with it all the time! It sounds so silly, I don't know why I felt like I needed to see what people had to say to me 23948628765 times a day?! I'm not sure why I cared so much. Either way, now it's just not here and I don't have to worry about it. Win. I did, however, gasp out loud when I realized I'd be Facebook-free on my birthday. How are all 300-something of my friends going to leave me Happy Birthday wishes??? Lame. I can't believe I thought that thought.

My house is in... mmm.. while I wouldn't say tiptop shape... it's not a cluttered mess that's stressing me out either. Not that it was ALL THE TIME. But ughhh sometimes I would sacrifice a load of laundry here and there if I got sucked in to browsing. I did 5 loads of laundry yesterday. 5. And they're all folded and put up. Okay okay.. there are a few towels left in the dryer, but vast improvement, I tell ya.

I'm enjoying the little moments with Andrew a lot more. We had a picnic the other day. Technically it was before I pulled the plug, but I was already planning on it so it still counts.

We babysat for a friend last night. It was good to find out how incredibly jealous Andrew will be with a someday new baby. Better to be prepared, right? Also good to know that he will enjoy reliving his babyhood through baby equipment we'll have to bring back out.
Very serious about watching King of the Hill in comfort. Both of them. He freaked every time Trey stopped rocking him. Not lying.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who got/is so caught up in Facebook. Feel free to let me know how addicted you are so I feel a little less like a loser.

I have started getting out old baby swings for the new nursery in the house and Madison will do anything in her power to squeeze herself into them and rock herself back and forth!!!

when I had to leave for those like 11 days? at first it was torture. I had to delete the app shortcut from my phone because I kept hitting it out of habit. but then it was liberating.
when I got back on, I didn't know what to do first haha :)

I am on Facebook ALL THE TIME and I should really pull the plug myself. I just feel like our lifestyle pulls us away from people so often that I want to have it "in case." Stupid, I know.

My point is that I don't blame you for thinking this is really hard!

Oh, and give Andrew a BIG kiss from me!

I definitely agree with the need for moderation. I can't blame my house on facebook, though. I had to give my computer a "rest" today and guess how productive I was? Yeah...

However, getting to see my childhood friend's newborn daughter last night 10 minutes after she was born, getting to share some of the joy with him AND his mom AND his dad AND his sister - even though they live in Dallas and we haven't seen each other in 15 years, pretty much solidified for me that I will never go entirely facebook-free.

Okay, that pic of Andrew in the carrier is too cute! :) They look like Pete and re-Pete, as my mother says.

You have inspired me to *try* to cut back on the Up-On-The-Screen-All-Day-Checking-Obsessively Facebook addiction. (I blame it on my inner Snoop that feels the need to know what everyone is doing...why is that?) But I'm with Mel and JG, I just can't see doing away with it completely due to the connections maintained with long-time friends.

I will totally email you and text you on your birthday as long as you remind me when it is coming up! I'm not good at remembering birthdays and rely on facebook for that. yeah...

A few weeks ago, I found myself pulling up my facebook events to fill in my pocket planner. I realized how sad that was as I did it.

I do sometimes enjoy those days when I am out of the house and away from the computer all day. Although I do usually have to hop on FB when I get home and see what's going on. Sometimes I think having a stupid phone is saving me from FB obsession. I can't check it when I'm out and about!

I'm not too bad about checking FB on my computer, but I check it on my phone obsessively because it updates quicker, and alerts me when I have a new message or comment. I should probably think about not checking it so much :/ But good for you for sticking with it! I'm glad you were so productive...I know how much stress it relieves when you don't have the weight of chores on your shoulders!

I just made a big production out of deleting two profiles in an 8 month period. I,for one, am tempting to share everything. Now I'll be forced to be more creative and commune with people around me, with nature. And that is as it should be.
