Flashback Friday

Happy *almost* 4th of July!!

This time last year, Trey was right in the middle of OCS in Fort Benning, GA. I lived only 5 hours away and had so much fun visiting him about once a month. Of course I missed living with him and being separated took some adjusting, but it was almost like we were dating each other all over again. There is something to be said for that excitement of seeing each other after 4 weeks of being separated.
He got a little bit of a break for the 4th, so I headed on down there with no real plans other than to enjoy each others company. We decided we were going to head down to the Riverwalk to see the firework show. Luckily, we left early, because once we parked and started walking downtown our plans quickly changed. We saw the perfect restaurant that had a deck to sit on with fans misting light water on us. I cannot turn drinks and appetizers on a deck down.. especially with the cobblestone streets.... my idea of perfection. After a few hours spent enjoying ourselves we headed on down to the firework area and here we are... I promise I'm actually dressed!!

We both adored Ft. Benning and really hope to get back there!

Cinderella?

I had a GREAT time last night! First of all... loved my dress. I didn't want to take it off at the end of the night. *Side note* I put way too much thought into that dress. Seriously, not being ugly (well I kinda am I guess), but I really could have put NO effort or thought into it and would have been better off than some of those girls. All I'll say is this... do we really think that wearing a dress with a very revealing strappy back showing off your tramp stamp in all it's glory is appropriate? I think not. I have nothing against tats what-so-ever, but coommeee on... can we cover the massive ones for a formal??? Ecchhhh...
I sort of felt bad for hubs. Okay, I felt really bad for him. Remember, this isn't the company he started out with. This isn't the group of people he depended on and formed bonds with for 11 weeks. He's had about a week and 1/2 to "get to know" this company. So it was pretty awkward for him sitting around the dinner table while they were all telling "war stories" and Trey had nothing to do with any of it. He missed his guys. But alas, we had a good time anyways, and soon we'll be reunited with them in OK. Here are some pics:

500 bobby pins and 2 cans of hairspray later....

I'm pretty confident that I have the hottest husband on the planet... sorry girls ;)

Later Added:

I forgot to write about the one thing I made a mental note to blog about last night. *Yes, I think about this lil blog at any significant moment during the day*

One thing I realized last night is what I'm loving about being part of this huge Army Family. I love feeling like I'm part of something that is much much bigger than myself. I love the little moments like when the color guard is presenting the colors. It was such a surreal moment to me that hundreds of people in one room got absolutely silent, seeing my husband in his uniform go completely stiff (well all the soldiers really.. ), and watching those men bring in the flags while being ordered to march this way, that way, stop.. blah blah.. I don't know.. I loved it.

The toasts, and this is when it all really hit me, were also one of my favorite parts. There were toasts to America, to the Army, to the Commander, to OCS, and then finally to all of the fallen soldiers. It was all I could do not to break down right there. They had an empty table set up just to represent all of the fallen soldiers. The empty chairs to represent where they could no longer sit. The plates to represent the food they could no longer eat. The wine glasses tilted because they can no longer drink out of them. Salt to represent all of the tears shed. Then we all did a silent toast to them with water instead of the champagne. It was incredibly moving.

Enough of That!

I've been so focused on the negative lately and have been so down in the dumps that I'm sick of myself! If I have any readers left it'll be a miracle! Unfortunately for all of you, I find it much easier to write about than to show feelings "IRL" so you get the brunt of it all. Healthy? Maybe not so much but it is what it is...
Buuttt I really can't take myself anymore so I'm choosing to pick my self up by the britches and make some changes. The bad things in life are going to happen... all I can do is try to roll with it, focus on the things I have to be thankful for, and learn from any mistakes. Positive thoughts for the day:
  • Did I chose to give my sweet, adorable dog away, when in the long run she may have been a really good thing for me? Yes. But you know what? She's in such a good home with lots of love and companionship that I just know she has to be happier. I can't worry about what other people think about that decision either. I know I did the right thing for me and Daisy.
  • My grandmother (as we all know by now) is on her last strings, but she's had quite the long and fulfilling one. I'm pretty sure she's excited to go and be with her husband again. I have so so so many good memories of that woman. I know I'll see her again.
  • Our house hasn't sold *or rented* yet and because of a couple different emergencies, we have no emergency fund left. I'm almost through with my job which means we'll be down to one paycheck and double the housing expenses. I don't know how we are going to get by, but WE'LL get by together some how. I'm going to be living with my husband again and if we have to eat Raman Noodles every day so be it. I'm pretty fond of them anyway. They have lots of different flavors so we won't get sick of them. Maybe one night a week we can splurge on Kraft Mac & Cheese. Which is my fav. Speaking of my husband...
  • He passed his PT test. He's graduating this Thursday!!!
  • I'm leaving tomorrow morning for a couple days of graduation festivities.
  • And he's coming home with me right after graduation. For two weeks.
  • Then we're moving away. Together.
  • I went to church this morning and it was the best feeling ever. Even better of a feeling? When hubs told me he wants to make it a priority to find a good church in OK and go every week. That needs to become more of a priority in our lives.
  • I had a great day today with my in-laws. Church with them, lunch afterwards, and painting nails with my MIL afterwards = pretty dern good day.

That's all for now.

I'm taking my laptop with me tomorrow since he'll still be "working" during the day. I plan on laying out by the pool for the majority of the day. I'll be sure to update throughout the week... especially after the ball on Tuesday!

Thanks for sticking with me throughout my "poor me" stage. All your thoughts, prayers, and kind words made me smile throughout it all :)

When Life Hands You Lemons...

Well you know how the rest goes.

Trey and I came across a major setback yesterday. The thought never even occurred to us that this could happen, but it did. They all turned in their weapons Friday afternoon. Most of the guys went out partying all weekend. Trey didn't. He wanted to be in top shape come Monday morning for his final PT test. The last thing he had to do in order to graduate from OCS. I got a text from him late Monday morning that just said "i need to talk to you". My heart immediately sank, but I was still hopeful. I mean really... he's had no trouble this whole time... what could have really gone wrong? Turns out he blew the running out of the water, did great in push ups, and for some reason or another, just barely missed his sit ups. He had to pack up all his stuff and get ready to go back to HHC (where they're held at the beginning or if you fail something at any point during the course). He'll be held there for another couple of weeks. He doesn't get to graduate with the guys he's gone through everything with. Instead he'll graduate with another company where he knows no one.

Can you imagine how he feels right now? It's getting better, but let me tell you, yesterday was not a good day. I don't think I've ever seen him at such a low point. Just humiliated, embarrassed, sad, disappointed.. the list goes on. I know he was dreading making that phone call to me, never mind his parents. We talked a lot yesterday and today and I've been trying real hard to pick his spirits up. I think it's working. I kept trying to tell him that every single thing happens for a reason. We may never ever know what that reason is, but we just have to trust that God has a better plan for us. When you're that disappointed though, that doesn't really mean anything to you in the moment. It is starting to sink with him. He's trying to accept it.

So yes, would I have LOVED to leave Monday to start graduation festivities?? Heck yes. But I'll enjoy it even more so in a couple weeks. Would I have been BEYOND excited to be driving HOME with him on Thursday and go together to pick Daisy up?? Ummm yeah. But instead, I'll pick Daisy up a few days earlier and take her with me to go spend next weekend with him. There HAS to be a reason for this. I have complete faith in that. Maybe I would have gotten in a car accident on the way down Monday because I was just so exhausted from my trip to Boston. Maybe we're not financially ready to move to Oklahoma while still making mortgage payments so our move had to be delayed for another month. All I know is in the end, not much has changed:

He'll retake that PT test and blow them out of the water (bc he WILL be doing 1000 sit ups every night while stuck in HHC ;) ).
He'll still graduate and get to where he wants to go.
I still think my husband is a kick ass, sexy Army Man.

I still think the world of him. I still adore him. <3

The End.

Another Weekend Gone

Yard sale = Huge Success!!
I sold everything. Literally everything. I don't have very many interesting stories to report unfortunately. It was pretty uneventful. To most people that would be a good thing.. but you know how I like a good story. The only thing I got for ya is a very sweaty, tell me your whole life story woman who bought 2 lamps from me but said she'd have to come and get them at another time. The lamps are still in my shed. I assumed she meant this weekend but apparently not? She was sweating so much that my brother thought she was spitting. No, that was just the sweat rolling down her lips as she was talking. It really wasn't THAT hot.
We thought we were done around 10:15. Just as we were figuring out how to get a dresser, desk, and bookshelf down the the goodwill store, a older man in a pickup truck pulled up and started checking them out. He said he'd paid me $25 for everything. Sold. Deal of a century for him? Absolutely. But also for me seeing as how I didn't have to deal with it! I made out pretty good and will be using the money I made to put towards paying for the rest of my sweet pup that I'm going to pick up in ~ 18 ~ days!!! I bought her a cute little bed this weekend at Burlington Coat Factory for $9.99!!
I DID NOT on the other hand find another dress to buy that I liked more than that blue number from a couple posts back, so that was ordered this morning. I'll have it by Wednesday. Pray Pray Pray. I also ordered the dress I'm going to wear to his graduation:

Very simple, I know. But I likie and I'll spruce it up with some fun jewelry. I can't believe his graduation is a mere 3 weeks away. I remember when were counting down from 2o-something weeks. It felt like a lifetime. I can't even express how much I'm looking forward to living a "normal" life with him again. I do worry about re-domesticating myself though! I don't think he'll be down for cereal or LC's for dinner...

Accomplished and Grateful

I promise this whole moving experience won't take up every.single. post, but it's pretty much all my life revolves around right now so.... here's another little tidbit.

First of all, I seriously don't know what I'd do without my family. I'd probably be checking myself into a mental hospital today. They came over yesterday and my mum just completely took charge and kicked things into gear when I just couldn't seem to do it. She packed up my ENTIRE kitchen. EVERYTHING! Granted, I'm now drinking out of plastic cups and don't have my favorite sauce pan to eat my staples (mac & cheese and spaghetti) but I'll survive. And that's a HUGE weight off of my shoulders. LOVE. My brother, Stephen, forced me to get out in that shed of ours and face stuff that I really wasn't into facing. But now that I'm done with that... phewww. All I really have left to do now is:
price everything for the yard sale
put yard sale signs out
put an add in the paper
pack away all of Trey's clothes and most of mine except for what I'll wear
go through one more closet
OH YEAH... and sell the house!
For sale sign up: check. Flyers out with the sign: check. House listed on MLS: check. Doing an amazing big girl job at keeping it clean: check. All I can do now is pray really!!
Now that all this has been done, it's freed my mind up to think about the things I was really really excited over before all this: Going to Massachusetts for a long weekend at the end of the month for a craaazzzzaayyy family reunion, flying home and driving to Columbus the next day for Trey's graduation festivities (yayyyyyy), and the day after WE come home from that going to pick up Daisy!!! Finally :) It's also freed my schedule up, so on today's agenda ~ searching for the perfect formal dress. The mall opens up at 1:30. I'll be there at 1:29 ready to search through every single dress that JC Penney, Belk, Dillard's or Sears may have. I'm pretty optimistic, but if they have nothing, then I'll resort to buying online. that makes me nervous though. Also, I CANNOT wait to get back into the gym Monday after work. I honestly haven't been in about 2 weeks.. probably more actually. Can't Wait.

Bittersweet

I'm back at home now and the past couple of days were even better than I pictured them being.

First of all ~ I got there uneventfully. Yay!! Just in case you have forgotten, my last tripped down involved me getting escorted to my hotel my MP's. Remember that near death experience?? Nothing like that this time. Ok ok. I may have veered off track for about 20 minutes on my way down, but I quickly and calmly corrected myself. Imagine my delight when I got a text from Trey letting me know that they were getting released that night :) So we had Thursday night until I left today around 12:30 of uninterrupted time together (minus his CQ duty from 6-8am Saturday morning, but rest assured I was sound asleep through all that, so it didn't really matter). It's a little late and I am exhausted, but since I'm in complete denial about going back to work tomorrow anyway, why not do a little recap, shall we? I'll have to save pics for tomorrow though.

Thursday night ~ headed out to the gas station to get a few brewskies. I looked past the fact that he wanted beer in his system immediately instead of immediately devouring me with kisses only because he had been in a field sleeping on a parka for the past week. And I also had no doubt that I'd get plenty of the sweet kisses in. Anywho... we took our beverages by the pool and stayed up for hours getting reacquainted with each other. It always feels so weird at first. Weird in a completely good way though. Like a first date with your high school crush weird.

Friday ~ slept in *this will be a pattern* I think we went out and grabbed an early lunch, then went on post to take care of the yuck stuff he had to do... figured we'd get that out of the way (laundry and going to the PX to buy stuff he needed to go back out to the field). It was then that I realized the huge firework display on post I was so much looking forward to took place the weekend before for some crazy reason. Not one to give up though, I scoured the newspapers and found another place that was putting on a show. After taking care of that stuff, we went back to the hotel and got some pool time in. I, of course, got ourselves involved with some real winners (I say that very sarcastically) from PA. I won't even get into that right now, I'll just say I was not a fan of them! That night we met one of his good buddies and his fiance for dinner. I really like them both ~ good thing too since they're coming to Ft. Sill for FA as well! He seemed pretty funny and her very very sweet :) After we left them, hubs and I went for some ice cream and then called it a night.. pretty low key!

Saturday ~ slept in :) worked out, which was much needed seeing as how we ate enough food to feed his entire company this weekend. Ate lunch at McAllisters. Yum. Went to the Infantry Museum. I cannot say enough about this place. It was amazing. I couldn't believe the detail that went into that. I'll post more about it with the pictures tomorrow, but wow. If you ever have the chance to go, please do! They have one room completely dedicated to the family of soldiers and I'm not ashamed to admit that it literally brought me to tears. It was all very emotional.
That night we headed down to the Riverwalk, where the firework display was being held. We planned on just grabbing something to eat there, but found a restaurant on the way that just looked to tempting. I'm so glad we stopped there. It was perfect! We sat out on the deck and enjoyed the *surprisingly* beautiful weather, ate delish food, had a couple fruity for me, very manly for him drinks, and just enjoyed each other's company. After awhile of that we walked down and got the perfect spot to enjoy the fireworks. They were beautiful! There was a stage off to the left of us where people were singing songs like, God Bless America, American Soldier, etc.. while the fireworks were going off. It was a pretty surreal moment and I, again, got a little emotional. I was just thinking about all the men and women that weren't home to enjoy this, and all the families that were home enjoying it without their soldier there with them. And I couldn't help but think that I may not have Trey there with me to see this next year. It was beautiful though, and again, pictures tomorrow.

Sunday ~ Very low key day. Food of course. Lots of walking around doing some window shopping. Saw The Proposal at the movie theater. This movie is hilarious!! We were both laughing almost the entire time :)

Today ~ :(
It was a lot harder to leave him this time than the rest. Which i'm sure was because we haven't been able to spend that much time together in a long long time.

Only 28 more days until I see him again though. And that time he'll be coming home with me :) At least for a couple of days until he goes to OK. It will, at least, be the end of OCS.

*Im proud to say that I have caught up on all of your blogs. Yes, I love you too. I'll get back to my regular commenting self soon*

2 more days <3

2 more days until I drive down to see my lova! So so excited! My Forever 21 order has yet to come in though with the cute sundresses I ordered to bring down there. I tracked it and saw that it was checked in at Greensboro, NC today. It'll probably get here the day I leave. Are they trying to play games with me?? Trey is out playing in the field all week, so I won't talk to him until I actually get there. I know they are doing Land Navigation out there and he was really nervous about passing this. That's the only thing he really struggled with in Basic.. he has a hard time with that. They get a couple different chances to pass and if not, they get recycled to the beginning of the program ~ I've been praying!!

My brother is home from his basic training! He surprised me at work yesterday in his dress blues. I had no idea he was coming by. I teared up after the shock of seeing him walk through the door went away.. couldn't believe he did that to me at work!
My dad hasn't posted any pics from their trip up so this is the only one I have:

How handsome is he??? He has lost too much weight though. His face is a lot skinnier than that now. He definitely needs to bulk up! He'll be going to tech school (date yet to be determined) in Wichita Falls, TX, which issss..... guess what???..... 50 miles away from Ft. Sill <3>

Thank you for the helpful comments about the dress. I looked around a little and haven't found much yet, but I'll know it when I see the right one. Any suggestions for websites??

Mixed Feelings

I've spent the weekend doing a lot of thinking (which isn't always a good thing if I do too much of it). Not that I can do anything what-so-ever about it, but I'm a tad nervous about this whole move. And I think the only reason I'm JUST a tad bit nervous is because it hasn't sunken in yet.

1. I'm pretty sure we're moving a lot sooner than I thought. I know for a fact that he is going after OCS, but now it's possible that I can go with him then. I originally thought he'd have 6 weeks of BOLC II, but I guess they're talking about doing away with that. Even if he does have BOLC II, it could be months before it starts. (we'll know his dates for sure this coming up weekend) but if he's not going to be doing that for months, yes please, I'd like to live together. And we know he's definitely staying there for BOLC III which is another 5 1/2 months so it makes sense for me to go.

2. That in turn means I could possibly have until the end of August to pack up our unneeded stuff and store it somewhere. Have a yard sale for all the crap we don't need/want. Put our house up for sale. PRAY PRAY PRAY that someone buys it. Me being me, I've already made a timeline. I plan to have the yard sale on the 18th of July. That gives me from when I get home from Ga. next Monday until then to go through all of the rooms and either pack it or get ready to sell it. I would love to officially have the house on the market by then as well. Maybe that same day. *I clearly have never done this before and have no clue what I'm doing*

3. I have never been away from my parents and brothers. I KNOW I'm in denial about this. I may need to be put on drugs for separation anxiety. The only thing keeping me from completely freaking out about leaving them, is the overwhelming excitement about living with Trey.

I also have yet to start looking for a dress for this OCS formal we have on the 4th of August.
I.don't.even.know.where.to.begin. I wonder just how formal is formal? Time to do some googling!

Life as a Musical??

Can you guess by the title where we're moving for at least 6 months???

Oookkklahoma! So it's not my number one choice, but hey, I'm excited anyways. Trey is beyond excited. He thinks he's going to get a tattoo tomorrow of the Field Artillery symbol ~ lucky for him he's 300 miles away so if he really wants one I guess I can't stop him. I digress...
I've let go of my worries that Field Artillery is more dangerous than his other choice (Ordinance Corp.??). I just have to remember that we're all on God's time. I truly believe that it doesn't matter what you're doing in life. Anyone of us could go at anytime. Good God, he had a gun put to his head when he was a manager at Arby's and made it through that!
Everyone is telling me that there is nothing to do around Ft. Sill, that I'll be bored out of my mind, that I'll hate it.. blah blah blah. I say.. don't let the haters get you down. Ha! I joke.. kinda.. it's going to be a new experience for me. I've never been out there even to visit. I don't know what the landscape is like.. what the weather is like. I'm sure I'll find lots to keep me entertained, it really doesn't take much. The simple fact that we're guaranteed to live with each other for about 6 months is reason enough to be jumping out of my britches!

P.S.
I have been thoroughly enjoying listening to MJ all day on the radio :)
I heard that his doctor is on the run and may be taken in for investigation?? hmm.. I hope that's not the case!

Today's The Big Day

Stand by ~

Trey branches today :)

Which means we'll find out where WE are going for his BOLC III.

Which translates into, "I'm going to be living with my husband again"

He finds out around 6 tonight :)

I'm hoping for Maryland, but preparing myself for Oklahoma. More to do with the branch than the actual place...

A Little of This and a Little of That

Is something wrong if I think I've neglected my blog just bc I skip a day of posting something?? I think so! This will be short *I think* because I'm so so tired right now.

I'm going to be MIA for the rest of the week probably. I know, I know, try to compose yourselves. It won't be too bad and the week will just fly by for you. Before you know it I'll be back, posting about how my week was, chillin with two of my cousins that are flying down here from Mass tomorrow. Good times will be had and I know I'll neglect this little blog o' mine. When I do come back though, I just may have a new name :) I don't think that effects anyone that follows me does it??

I cannot wrap my brain around the fact that it is mid June. Where has this year gone. I remember Trey leaving for Basic and thinking I was just going to die right then and there and that I would never make it on my own. Now look at us. We've made it through Basic and he's about 1/2 way with OCS. I wouldn't say it's been all smooth sailing by a long shot, but I have proven to myself that I'm stronger and more capable then I thought I was. Please remind me of this when I have to move to a big, strange, scary place without my mom and dad for the first time. Ha!

Speaking of the hubs, he seems to be doing pretty good down there in GA. He's doing great on his tests that he takes for classes (so far all in the 90's), is doing fairly well with his PT ( I think he's doing a really good job, but he's comparing himself to other people that are doing better so ya know.. ), and he is, for once in his life, actually very very happy with himself. And that came out of his mouth. For that reason alone, I wish we would have done this a long time ago. I shouldn't have fought it for so long.

If I don't remember to go to the store and get more Zyrtec D asap, I'll be posting again this week after all since I'll have a full blown sinus infection and won't be able to enjoy anyone's* company anyways. I swear I take that stuff year round! Maybe my allergies won't bother me so bad in

16 days until I get to see my little muffin .... fo' 4 straight days <3

*spell check (God love it) is telling me this should be written out as any one's. I don't believe it so I'm keeping it as one word

Ouch Charlie!

If you've never seen the Ouch Charlie video on YouTube *shame on you* you must click here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_OBlgSz8sSM
I still cannot get videos to post on here so I'm sorry for the inconvenience, but your life really isn't complete unless you've seen this.

Now that that's out of the way ~
I woke up this morning to a pretty painful eyelid. Actually, painful is not really the right word for it. More like aggravating. Like makes me want to punch a hole through the wall type of aggravating. I'm very aware of my eye being there. It's pretty swollen (just the lid, by my eyelashes) and red. The inside isn't red though and it's not itchy so I don't believe it's pink eye. A stye maybe? I don't know.. I don't think I've ever even so much as conjunctivitis! We'll see.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE a clean house. Not to toot my own horn... hell, why not.... I did a damn good job. It was so necessary though. Embarrassingly necessary.
CONFESSION: * ohhhh i cannot believe I'm going to admit this to y'all * Ready? That maayyyy have been the first time I mopped my kitchen/dining room/entry way floors since I've moved in. Last February. As in Feb 2008. It's okay.. say what you will... I'm laughing at myself out loud right now. Mum was pretty grossed out when I told her this and she realized she's recently walked on those same floors with bare feet.
Anywho... house looks great now. I haven't started boxing up anything per say, but I did take a lot of junk that I probably won't EVER need or use, never mind need or use in the next 2 (or 4.. depending on how things go) months, and put it all in one room, separated into different piles. Now I just need boxes.
*side note* we'll find out where it is we'll be moving not this coming up Friday but the Friday after for his BOLC III. That'll last for about 5 1/2 months, so heck yes, I'm packing up and going with him.

My only other plan for today: I'm going to buy an American Flag to hang out on our porch. Then I'm going to hang it. And do one more load of laundry. And nurse my inflamed eye. The End.

Blog maintenance:
Can anyone see anything on the right side?? Ya know.. like the "About me" and pictures? Or anything? I can't see it and I'm not sure where it went.
Also, I've been racking my brain for a new name for my little blog. I'm leaning towards "Learning As We Go". Referring of course to being new with this whole Military life and (me more so than hubs) being clueless about it, but excited about what's to come. Any thoughts??

Much Better Day!

A whole day dedicated to Trey and I spending time together with nothing really to do? What could be better? Ok.. an over night pass I guess.. but I take what they give us!

I woke up at 7:00 sharp to get all dolled up for my lovah. I knew he was planning on eating breakfast in the chow hall, so I made my way down for my assumed complimentary breakfast. No such thing. Coffee would have to hold me over for awhile I guess. I had to wait around for Trey's phone call saying he was free, so I took my book and sat in the sunshine by the pool and waited for the green light. After waiting for what seemed like FOREVER he picked me up (wouldn't want a repeat of last night's episode would we??) and we drove back on base. We spent the day doing a whole lot of nothing ~ it was perfect. My favorite part I guess would have to either be the long "nature" walk we took ( wasn't too much nature involved but it was nice to walk around and be silly together), my ice cream cone, or any amount of the smooches I got along the day ;)

He dropped me back off at my hotel in time for him to get back by 5:45. But my day did not end there. I had the absolute pleasure of meeting Rebekah, from Mrs. G.I. Joe , and her husband today!! The three of us went to dinner and she is just as sweet "in real life" as she is on her blog! It's so funny how much we really do get to know each other over these blogs. It felt like I was sitting down with a friend I've known for years! I wish we had more time *I thought of a million other things we could have talked about.. next time though* :) And her husband is great... he reminded me a lot of my own personality-wise. I know they'd be fast friends too!

Anyways... off to get some sleep. He gets released even earlier tomorrow, but i'll have to leave earlier too. I'm absolutely dreading getting in that car and driving away from him :(

Road Trip!!

I'm leaving here at 3:00 this Friday to go see the hubs!! Fo Real this time. Have my hotel booked and everything :) He doesn't think he'll actually be able to go out into the real world, but we're still hanging on to hope for an off post pass. If not, he'll have from 9ish-6 Saturday and Sunday.. I'll take it! With the short week because of Memorial Day, I'm having a hard time adjusting and I can't believe that tomorrow is Thursday and I'll have to pack after work. I'm a little excited so excited I could pee my pants at any minute.
I got a call from him around 5:30 or so today. It's not normal for him to call during the day so I was immediately on edge..

T: Hi. Can you hear me? (in a very whispered voice the whole time)
J: yeah, what's up?
T: Nothing. Just wanted to tell you I love you.
J: Did you just get fired or something?
T: No. I have CQ tonight during the normal time that I can call you so I knew I wouldn't be able to talk to you tonight.. just wanted to let you know I was thinking about you. Have to go before I get in trouble.

AWwwwww!!!

And now I'll leave you with a little picture I saw today that made me LOL.

A Little of This and a Little of That

It's officially Memorial Day weekend.. woohhooooo!!

Just taking it easy tonight. Doing a little laundry, packing, and catching up on the DVR. I have a week's worth of catching up to do. What am I packing for you ask?? No, not to go see hubs. I'm leaving in the morning for Charleston with a couple girls and I CANNOT WAIT. Will be back Monday morning with a few stories to share I'm sure and maybe some pics.

My day was going really good today ~ that is until I locked my keys in my car. Uh huh. On my lunch break. Went to get my eyebrows waxed. Threw my keys in my purse. Thought to myself "oh I don't need my purse, I'll just run in with my wallet". Put purse in the passenger seat, lock the doors, slam door shut and immediately say a bad four letter word. Grrrrr!
Luckily, a girl at work reminded me that I have USAA and I could call them and have them send someone out for free. But it did turn my hour lunch break into a 2 and 1/2 hour lunch break.. and not for any fun reasons!

Trey seems to be doing pretty well. We do get to talk a little bit each day so that's a relief. He has from 9-10 to shower, shave, and get ready for lights out so we find about 15 minutes to talk in the midst of all that.. which is better than nothing!! So far he's passing the things he needs to pass so we're off to a good start. For the most part his mood seems to be pretty positive :)

I hope everyone enjoys their weekend. Happy Memorial Day!!

Back to Basic

Or it feels like it anyways!
Trey and all the guys he's with got placed in thier actual platoons today. Which means they are actually starting stuff this week. I know he is thankful for that as he was quite bored last week! So while I'm glad for him, I am a little down because this also means this is the start of him being a busy soldier for the next couple of months. I haven't heard that voice all day as of 8:20 tonight. I miss it! Yes, I take back my "hating the phone" complaints!
He did text me earlier today to let me know that we need to talk about this upcoming weekend. He will not be getting on off-post past like we originally thought, but will have about 8 hours of free time during the days. I'm been struggling with the decision on whether or not to go all day, but I think I've decided to make a go for it. Any thoughts?? I'm sure I can manage to find things to do when he is away right? I think it will be worth it.. but opinions are definitely welcome!
I hope everyone had a great Monday (as great as Mondays go anyway)

Here are some reasons my day sucked:
Close to NO sleep last night. (just could not fall and stay asleep)
Felt like I got NOTHING done at work today no matter how focused I tried to be
Not hearing from Trey
Not making it to the gym because of pure exhaustion
And I JUST NOW spilled an entire glass of bright red tropical punch KoolAid (sugar free of course) on the cream colored carpet

And here are some things that made it not COMPLETELY suck:
Knowing that i have someone to miss as much as I do
Finding a new little surcie for myself at the grocery store ~ Weight Watcher Candy Bar Ice Creams. It's kind of like the Snickers IceCream bars which I happen to LOVE.
Having a bowl of Apple Jacks for dinner.

Here's to a better day tomorrow :)

Update:
Trey just called only to inform me that he doesn't know when he'll be able to call me again. And I shouldn't go down this weekend bc although he technically will have free time, he'll have to be back at all hours of the day for anything from formation to detail... blah. It will all be worth it in the end <3
