A season for everything

I've never been one to be a "neat freak". I like things to be in order and I like my house to be clean on the surface (aka a glancing eye would think things are immaculate, but let's not take the white gloves out to really check it out, okay?) but you won't catch me cleaning the floors with a toothbrush or cleaning the baseboards any time soon. I  used to spend a few hours on the weekend straightening up and doing light cleaning, but that was it. My how things have changed...

At some point, I must have blinked a little too long and my little baby has become this toddler-like creature and is into everything. He has to touch everything. One single toy does not entertain him for longer than a 2-minute period. He eats big people snacks and prefers to eat them on the go. He's eating finger foods and thoroughly enjoys throwing it all over God's creation, stressing his mother out discovering the new textures of it all.

So now.. now... while I feel like I'm constantly cleaning up after this child... I have to let some things go. Like I said, while I was never OCDish about cleaning, but I've had to give up on the surface appearance of our home. I do my best. There are times (like right now) when I've been extremely productive during nap time and get to enjoy a swept, dusted, and wiped down, good smelling home (for about 20 minutes), but I promise you it's never like it once was.

If you come over, whether it be planned or not, you are guaranteed to see handprints over every glass surface imaginable. They ARE rather adorable little handprints though. You're pretty likely to step in a pile of cracker crumbs. Maybe even a whole one that has somehow been looked over by the human vacuum. Any area within 2 feet of the highchair will probably be disgusting. Unless it is between 8:15 and 9:30, 1:15 and 3, or anytime after 7:15.. I absolutely promise you that my living room will look like a tornado ripped through it. Toys everywhere.. watch where you step. Books thrown all over the floor (my boy loves his books, thank God). Chaos. Total chaos.

And I wouldn't have it any other way. Sometimes, I do have to remind myself of this. I'm human.. of course it stresses me out at times. But, I picture it the other way around and that makes me really sad. I can't imagine not seeing those little handprints. Not having little toy soldiers, cars or airplanes to pick up! When I really think about it.. it puts a huge smile on my face. This is just a season in our lives. The toys are only going to get bigger and have more threat of breaking something. One day my house will be clean again.. you know.. on the surface... and I'm going to miss all of this.
So for now, I'll remember how blessed I am! And for now.. I'm going to print this off and hang it somewhere noticeable. So next time I step on a lego and want to scream I can remember how thankful I am for that lego.

Blogger's Block

I have severe, severe bloggers block. Partly I guess because I kept myself insanely busy this week and I also just don't have much to talk about.. shocker!

But I figured I'd spit a little something out while Trey is SUPER cleaning the entire house. I tried to help, I really did. But he's doing such a deep cleaning.. everything from the kitchen is in the living room right now and it's like my mind spiraled out of control and I start panicking. I don't do well with chaos and that's what this seems to be right now. My kitchen is well on it's way to being cleaning enough to eat off of every single surface though! Good job Trey. Sorry I am a spaz and can't handle it. ADD kicks in big time. It got bad enough that he told me to just sit down and chill.. sooo.. here I am. Good husband!

I'm getting less stressed about our trip home and more excited. I've made mine and Andrew's packing list (Good God.. Trey is now dusting the kitchen chairs!!!) and that helps a lot.

I can't friggen wait to show him off to everyone! In just one weeeekk... ahhhhh! He's so much fun right now, which I know I've said 100000 times, but I just can't get enough of him. His laugh is so contagious and I kiss his cheeks enough that they should be chapped! I can't help it. If those chubby cheeks are within 3 inches of me, I will be loving all over them.

Let's randomly switch subjects, shall we? I had a much needed night out with a new girlfriend Wednesday night. Why Wednesday night you ask? 1/2 off bottles of wine at Carino's. Good reason for me! Some other girls from Centering were supposed to go, but I think everyone is really busy because of the holidays. The two of us had such a good time.. chatting, laughing, and even crying! It is SO nice to have finally met someone that I really click with! Fun Fact: our babies were born on the same day, in the same hospital. We were laboring at the same time. If I've already mentioned that then forgive me, it's so cool to me.

That's all for now. Maybe I'll go play with Andrew some more while Trey finishes scouring the house. We're going to see some Christmas lights tonight that are supposed to be pretty amazing :)

Happy Halloween!

I won't be around *in blogging world* tomorrow, so I figured I'd throw that out there! I hope everyone has a great time no matter what you're doing. We'll be out of town, more on that below, and I will say that I'm going to miss seeing all the little kids dressed up. Last year we stayed home watching scary movies and enjoying all of our 3 trick-or-treaters (that was such a friggen let down). But hopefully we'll see some out and about in OKC.

I'm SOOO excited to get there. Why so excited you ask? I'm going to meet a blogging buddy!! Our husbands are coming along for the meet. They are actually a big reason we're meeting this weekend. Her husband has courageously signed up for the Army and is leaving for Basic this Monday. He's taking the OCS route as well, so it'll be nice for them to talk about it since Trey went through it all recently. We've been emailing all week, making arrangements to get together. I have to laugh at ourselves because it totally feels like you're setting up a blind date. "Let's meet here at this time... I'll be the girl wearing the cute and sassy sweater dress get up... here's my cell in case anything changes". I'm sure we'll have a great time - I'll let you know next week :)

It hit me yesterday that I've been a little selfish on my blog posts. Talking all about me and not so much about Trey. A few people in his family read this I think (ahem.. I hope) if they haven't gotten tired of just hearing about me all the time ;) and my mum is still a loyal reader and I'm sure she'd like to hear a bit about her son-in-law too... I never update anyone on how HE'S doing. Me me me!

Well, if I had gotten to this yesterday, I would have told you he's doing marvelous. He's thoroughly enjoying his life right now. Come on.. you all know he played Army every day of his childhood... now he's getting paid to do the same. *please forgive me lack of knowledge when it comes to the technical terms of anything... you'll have to live with my girly version* Earlier in the week he was all amped up. They spent the first part basically living a video game. They were pretending they were in tanks overseas, but the game made them feel like they were really there. The first day he "killed a bad guy". The second day he died. He was blown up by an IED. It's the 2nd time he's died in two weeks. I don't remember how he died last week. I talk light-heartedly about this, but you know me.... it's got my mind going in overdrive. All I can say is that I'm glad it's not for real and I hope they are learning lessons.

He got home last night and was still feeling pretty damn Hooah. They are doing combatitives yesterday and today. That means they are spending two days doing nothing but fighting each other. Not my idea of a good time, but soldiers will be soldiers. He came home feeling pretty BA. Thennn.... he woke up this morning. To say he is a little sore is a bit of an understatement. I think he realized he is not 22 anymore... and his punching bag partner is. I have a feeling I'll be doing a little pampering tonight (get your minds out of the gutter).

That's about it for him. I'll be sure to do that more often. I know anyone that is interested could just call him, but lets face it, it's much more interesting from my point of view.

I have a busy day ahead of me! Have an appointment to take care of these monstrous eyebrows. Going to payless to take advantage of a special code I have to get 1/2 off on a pair of boots. Oh you want half off too?? Text "oprahshow" to 242424 and you can get it as well. Just for today so hurry. Your welcome. Need to pick up a bottle of wine. I read in a magazine this week that 1 or 2 glasses of red wine a day will help you fend off any colds coming your way. Need to protect my health! Then it's back home to do my wifely duties. Got laundry to do. Gotta clean the bathroom, straighten up in general, vacuum, sweep, mop the kitchen and bathroom floors, and make some dinner. I know, I know ~ I'm pretty awesome.

Have a great weekend!

Ouch Charlie!

If you've never seen the Ouch Charlie video on YouTube *shame on you* you must click here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_OBlgSz8sSM
I still cannot get videos to post on here so I'm sorry for the inconvenience, but your life really isn't complete unless you've seen this.

Now that that's out of the way ~
I woke up this morning to a pretty painful eyelid. Actually, painful is not really the right word for it. More like aggravating. Like makes me want to punch a hole through the wall type of aggravating. I'm very aware of my eye being there. It's pretty swollen (just the lid, by my eyelashes) and red. The inside isn't red though and it's not itchy so I don't believe it's pink eye. A stye maybe? I don't know.. I don't think I've ever even so much as conjunctivitis! We'll see.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE a clean house. Not to toot my own horn... hell, why not.... I did a damn good job. It was so necessary though. Embarrassingly necessary.
CONFESSION: * ohhhh i cannot believe I'm going to admit this to y'all * Ready? That maayyyy have been the first time I mopped my kitchen/dining room/entry way floors since I've moved in. Last February. As in Feb 2008. It's okay.. say what you will... I'm laughing at myself out loud right now. Mum was pretty grossed out when I told her this and she realized she's recently walked on those same floors with bare feet.
Anywho... house looks great now. I haven't started boxing up anything per say, but I did take a lot of junk that I probably won't EVER need or use, never mind need or use in the next 2 (or 4.. depending on how things go) months, and put it all in one room, separated into different piles. Now I just need boxes.
*side note* we'll find out where it is we'll be moving not this coming up Friday but the Friday after for his BOLC III. That'll last for about 5 1/2 months, so heck yes, I'm packing up and going with him.

My only other plan for today: I'm going to buy an American Flag to hang out on our porch. Then I'm going to hang it. And do one more load of laundry. And nurse my inflamed eye. The End.

Blog maintenance:
Can anyone see anything on the right side?? Ya know.. like the "About me" and pictures? Or anything? I can't see it and I'm not sure where it went.
Also, I've been racking my brain for a new name for my little blog. I'm leaning towards "Learning As We Go". Referring of course to being new with this whole Military life and (me more so than hubs) being clueless about it, but excited about what's to come. Any thoughts??

So Far Today...

I have done absolutely NOTHING. But that sho is about to change.

First of all I slept in!!! I think being out of town for the last three weekends and getting up at 5:30 every morning this week finally caught up to me, although Trey had minimal sympathy for me when I told him this. I went to be at 11 last night after watching Forgetting Sarah Marshall *hilarious* and didn't wake up until 9 only bc Trey called. 10 hours of sleep.. are you kidding me?? I haven't done that in years if feels like.
I caught up on some of yalls blogs before even getting out of bed bc I love you much :) Had a disappointing breakfast (my fruit and yogurt special K didn't have so much fruit and yogurt in it) but my raspberry cheesecake yoplait light was delish. I watched the season finale of SVU from like 2 weeks ago, which kept me on my toes. Loved it.
And now the intense cleaning of our house begins. I mean SERIOUS cleaning. I'm getting ready to open up all the blinds so I'm not too too depressed about spending the day inside, hook up the Ipod, and get to work! I went to Walmart last night after a very successful workout *a full 30 min on the elliptical ~ first time for that ~ which got me 2.3 miles* and got new cleaning supplies. A new scrubber to scrub the tub (my most hated chore) and refills for my swiffer mop. I'm going to clean the living hell out of every room in this house and may even start boxing up some unnecessary crap we have laying around. Because I might want to come to the realization that we're I'm going to have to put the house up for sale in the near future. Just the thought causes so many mini panic attacks in me, so lets not go there.
After all this, you better believe I'll be enjoying some of that Bud Light Lime later tonight that I may have also picked up from Walmart.
