Another Weekend Gone

Time seems to be flying by faster than usual lately. I hardly remember going through November and now we are weeks away from Christmas! * 13 DAYS AWAY FROM BEING IN SC AGAIN * I'm just a tad excited!!!! To say the least...
It seems like it is snowing in every part of the country except where we are. Is everyone enjoying it? I hope to get some here soon! I have some vegetable soup going in the crock pot right now, so it would be perfect timing!

We had a quiet, but great weekend. The two of us went out for dinner to Buffalo Wild Wings Friday night. It was nice.. our idea of a perfect date. Big screen TVs everywhere talking about sports, a few Blue Moon for him and Sunset Wheat for me beers, nachos, boneless wings, and a ton of laughing. We got up early Saturday morning and hit the gym. I am gaining weight and don't know why. (other than the nights of beer, nachos and wings, you say... hey.. no one asked you!). Got home and had coffee and eggs and multiple hours before the SEC championship game, I was about to wring my husbands neck. He could not handle his excitement and drove me crazy well into the afternoon until the game actually started. All was well in the end though, as Alabama beat Florida and is now the #1 team in the country.. yup.. it feels good. And will feel even better if we beat Texas for the National Championship!!

Today was/is a really good day as well. We got up this morning and went to a new church. I had a feeling about this one from the parking lot. It just felt right. I was right... we ended up LOVING it. Everyone there was so GENUINELY nice, we were invited to come to their young adult bible study (which is what I've been looking for), the sermon was great (The pastor was able to keep my attention the entire time.. which is a HUGE accomplishment in any setting). It was the perfect mix of what we both wanted. The Methodist traditions.. you know.. repeat after me stuff and hymns for him mixed with a huge sanctuary full of people and some contemporary music for me. We're going to try the bible study next week and that will either make or break the deal. It's really important to me to get into something like that. We met friends for lunch at a supposedly great Mexican restaurant afterwards, which didn't turn out to be all that great at all. Their "cheese dip" was more like chicken broth. No thank you. After that the boys went to OKC to some shooting range and the girls went to the Christmas craft fair on post. I found nothing to spend money on (you're welcome, Trey), made a quick, very necessary Starbucks trip, then came home to make soup, wrap presents, and thoroughly enjoy some alone time before the boys come back.

I know I haven't mentioned this since my first announcement, but my SIL is about a month and 1/2 away from her due date! She is doing very well and looking even better. She is gorgeous and I cannot wait to get my hands on her belly in about 2 weeks!!!

Just a lil Update & a Memory

Nothing much going on around here! We've just been enjoying each other's company constantly.. with a slight little interuption called work. Not such a bad thing though... this is my last week working there and I'm getting a little emotional about that. I know Friday's going to be a pretty rough day for me. Better believe that when we go out for dinner Friday night with friends that hubs is going to have to be DD. His turn ~ I think I'm going to have one of those drown my tears in beer nights ;)

We went to church Sunday morning. I mention this because it was a little moment I had where I felt extremely close to my grandmother. It was nice. Speaking of which, I have a copy of her obituary I want to post. Not so much because I think you will all find it thrilling, more so because I know I'll always have a copy of it if I put it here. Sad that I don't know how to keep things like that other than blogging anymore? Maybe.

Busy Busy Busy

Whewwwwww...

We've been home since Thursday night, but it's been non-stop, go go go! In fact, we have to go go go again in about 20 minutes so this is just a quick little update to let you guys know I'm still alive and we're doing really well.

1. graduation went really well. Except for the fact that during the whole ceremony people were creeping politely on their knees to take pictures of their graduate except for when it was time for Trey to go up. Then they decided to not so politely stand in my way so I got a crap picture. More pictures to come later.
2. It took about a day and 1/2 to get readjusted to living with each other again. It was hard for him coming into a mostly packed house. Even harder to learn that you can no longer leave your shit laying around at any time. You never know when someone might want to come and take a gander at the house!
3. But it's good now and i'm loving every.single.second we have together.
4. We got family pictures taken with his family yesterday and i'm prettttty sure they will end up coming out amazingly and i'll have a really hard time picking out just a few.
5. My grandmother finally passed away yesterday. Last night around 7:30 actually. We knew it was coming. She's been suffering really badly all week and she was down to 7 breaths a minute yesterday. I had a hard time with it last night, but I really know that she's much much better off. I can just imagine her running around with my grandfather not even losing a breath. Actually I can't imagine them frolicking around together. More like playing poker or rummy with one of her "damn ice coffees" in hand.
6. Trey is about to kill me with these damn Army workouts. Thank God that tomorrow is a day of rest. Literally, I'm thanking Him. My legs can barely hold themselves up and are in a constant state of wobble, my abs hurt so much I can barely breath in and out.
7. Tonight we're going to hang out with a couple of our good friends. I've seen them countless times since Trey's left but I'm excited for him to see everyone again. These are the two guys that Trey's been close with since 9th grade. *and their beautiful wives*
8. Tomorrow we're going to church in the morning. Again, I've gone here and there since he's been again, but I'm AGAIN, so excited for him to see everyone.

That is all for now. Preparing to go back into work on Monday and am dreading it will enjoy every day since it's my last week.
Here's to hoping the rest of the week crawls by at a snails pace!

Enough of That!

I've been so focused on the negative lately and have been so down in the dumps that I'm sick of myself! If I have any readers left it'll be a miracle! Unfortunately for all of you, I find it much easier to write about than to show feelings "IRL" so you get the brunt of it all. Healthy? Maybe not so much but it is what it is...
Buuttt I really can't take myself anymore so I'm choosing to pick my self up by the britches and make some changes. The bad things in life are going to happen... all I can do is try to roll with it, focus on the things I have to be thankful for, and learn from any mistakes. Positive thoughts for the day:
  • Did I chose to give my sweet, adorable dog away, when in the long run she may have been a really good thing for me? Yes. But you know what? She's in such a good home with lots of love and companionship that I just know she has to be happier. I can't worry about what other people think about that decision either. I know I did the right thing for me and Daisy.
  • My grandmother (as we all know by now) is on her last strings, but she's had quite the long and fulfilling one. I'm pretty sure she's excited to go and be with her husband again. I have so so so many good memories of that woman. I know I'll see her again.
  • Our house hasn't sold *or rented* yet and because of a couple different emergencies, we have no emergency fund left. I'm almost through with my job which means we'll be down to one paycheck and double the housing expenses. I don't know how we are going to get by, but WE'LL get by together some how. I'm going to be living with my husband again and if we have to eat Raman Noodles every day so be it. I'm pretty fond of them anyway. They have lots of different flavors so we won't get sick of them. Maybe one night a week we can splurge on Kraft Mac & Cheese. Which is my fav. Speaking of my husband...
  • He passed his PT test. He's graduating this Thursday!!!
  • I'm leaving tomorrow morning for a couple days of graduation festivities.
  • And he's coming home with me right after graduation. For two weeks.
  • Then we're moving away. Together.
  • I went to church this morning and it was the best feeling ever. Even better of a feeling? When hubs told me he wants to make it a priority to find a good church in OK and go every week. That needs to become more of a priority in our lives.
  • I had a great day today with my in-laws. Church with them, lunch afterwards, and painting nails with my MIL afterwards = pretty dern good day.

That's all for now.

I'm taking my laptop with me tomorrow since he'll still be "working" during the day. I plan on laying out by the pool for the majority of the day. I'll be sure to update throughout the week... especially after the ball on Tuesday!

Thanks for sticking with me throughout my "poor me" stage. All your thoughts, prayers, and kind words made me smile throughout it all :)

Hubs has made it though step number 100000 towards military life. Man.. this is really becomming a reality! He had his physical fitness test Friday and passed this as well! (last week was the doctor physical, this week was the fitness test) So he did his running, pushups and situps and may have not passed with flying colors.. but passed none-the-less. Which is the important thing. His recruiter told him he'll have plenty of time to perfect all of that at basic.. I bet! After that he did yet some more paper work. This is where he actually made his top ten career picks. don't ask me to quote them back to you.. I don't understand the language. And then picked out the top places he'd like to be stationed at (i'm not quite sure why they make you do this.. don't they send you wherever they need you to be anyway??) he had to have 4 overseas places in this list. I know his top three were Alabama, Virginia, and Germany. His other three overseas places were Italy, Alaska, and Hawaii. Why Hawaii wasn't numero uno is beyond me!! He clearly didn't ask my opinion ;)
I know this topic has pretty much dominated my blog so thank you so much for listening to me along this process. This wednesday he goes in front of the board to see if this is actually going to be for real or not.. so we'll finally be able to talk about this to more people and know for sure what type of life we'll be living. This has been so hard for me.. i haven't been able to tell anyone in my family about this (except my immediate family and grandmother of course) as well as noone at work. That's been pretty hard!! We shall see this week!! Keep us (especially Trey) in your prayers!
The baby shower went very well yesterday! I had a great time and the brand new mama got lots of cute, useful stuff! She made out great and has two more showers coming up back to back over the next two weeks.
Church was great this morning. We didn't actually make it to the service. Just bible study. Lesson learned.. on the weeks we do bible study, we'll have to go to the early service! we only do the study on the first and third sunday's of the month. So typical for us, the first one we go to, we're both a little nervous bc we know NOONE and they announce that they're splitting the men and women up. Ha! Someone must of seen the look I shot him at that point, bc I was swiftly made aware that they don't usually do that.. just once a quarter. Phew!
It ended up being really nice though to sit with a group of women like that and talk about marriage from God's POV. Very helpful to be reminded of certain things. Like.. no matter how hard things get, and they will get hard, that divorce is just not an answer. Trey and I promised that before we said our vows and meant it whole-heartedly, but it's nice to hear it and talk about it again. And also, how love is not an emotion. It's a decision and a promise. The emotion won't always be there alll the time and if you don't have the commitment and the strong decision to back it up, then there's nothing there. It just made me think about how sad it is that divorce is so common these days. It's definately not taboo anymore and I think we've all been descensitized to it. So.. that was week 1. I'm interested to see how it'll be when we are all together in the class!

Back to the grind tomorrow.. honestly... I'm dreading it!!

Not enough time in the day

At one point today, as I was standing endlessly by the copier, getting files to closing, I seriously prayed to God and asked him to add more hours into my day. I was only 1/2 joking. The day is just not long enough. I never get everything I want/need to in. And really.. i'm only asking for about 2 more hours.. maybe 3. One more hour dedicated to sleep. The other two hours for blogging and tv watching. Come on Big Man.. that's not too much to ask is it? I mean part of it is dedicated to Him afterall since I've started doing a daily Bible reading. All I ask is for a 27 hour day in return..

In other news.. I'm kind of ashamed of myself, and like always, feel the need to repent. Last night as I'm cooking dinner, there's a loud knock on the door. Trey goes to answer it and it's a fireman asking for donations for our local volunteer department. Trey invites him in. I go hide in the bedroom because I'm in my pj's and no bra. Lovely site for Mr. Fireman! When I hear him leave, I come out, only to be met by him proclaiming so so proudly that he gave Mr. Fireman a check for $50. I spazzed. I probably shouldn't of. He was so proud of what he did. As a sidenote, to get me ready for the possibility of him leaving, I've taken over keeping up with all of our money and bills. So I know our money situation probably shouldn't have allowed us to give Mr. Fireman $50. But I feel really really badly. He was doing something out of the kindness of his heart, to people that really need it, I'm sure. And I spazzed. I have since apologized.

Can I get an Amen for the weekend!!! I don't think I've needed one more in my life. I'm just plain exhausted! I don't plan on doing a thang Friday night. Saturday we have a jack and jill baby shower to go to for our sweet friends Wendy and Tim that are due *ahem* right around my birthday in March. It's funny how life goes by in spurts like this. For the past couple years it's been allll about the weddings. Constantly. Now it looks like we're making a turn for the baby years. I think I'll be a little behind on this boat.. but you never know!! I wouldn't complain.
Saturday night we are hanging out with some other friends, but I don't want to stay out too late.. why you ask??
After months of searching.. wasn't searching too too hard to be honest.. we've finally found "our" church out here in Lexington. I LOVE it. It's perfect. I love the pretty drive there. I loved that I felt welcome and comfortable from the moment I stepped foot in this place. I love that they have a young married couples Bible study - at the church - right before, or after, depending on what service you go to - I love that when the preacher read out of his Bible, he was reading out of the same one I was. Not a different version. I loved that I didn't space out once during his sermon. I loved the music. So.. that's what I'll be doing Sunday morning. Our first week of Bible study.. then service at 11. I'm very excited about this!!
If only I can make it through one more day of this tourture some people like to call work...
