Let's play catch up!
Speaking of hurting.. my poor baby is cutting his first tooth! I can tell it is effecting him, but only minimally. He's just a little extra fussy and sometimes is having trouble falling asleep. I can't imagine what he will look like with a little tooth in there :)
I have been a busy little bee planning my SIL bachelorette activities. A group of 9 of us are staying a weekend in downtown historic Savannah, GA and I can't wait! I fly home in early March and will be staying about 2 weeks or so. Wish me luck.. flying solo with the babe!
I had an epic fail of a long weekend with the diet. Echh.. it all started when a friend came over Thursday night and forced me to drink a few glasses of chocolate wine. And went downhill from there to include chocolate covered strawberries, a mini brownie, chips and dip, chex mix... etc etc! I am back on track now though and thankfully only gained a pound.. it's amazing!
We have a busy week planned this week with appointments for me, getting together with friends, and getting ready and organized for a yard sale on Saturday morning! No rest for this girl!
*Thank you all so much for your thoughts of last weeks scare with Andrew! It means so much to me to read your kind words. I will keep you all updated!*

Baby Bump
A little puffery and bloating action at 12 weeks
A more defined bit of a baby bump at 13 weeks
It's not much, and I can't believe I'm posting a belly pic that could still be looked at as just plain ol' fat, but I am excited. It's the first week that I could tell any sort of a difference. We're in the last week of my first trimester!

Giveaway!!
In the meantime, our little town has been threatened with no water! That's right... they're saying the whole town is going to lose water for 2-7 days. Apparently, at the place we receive our main source of water, the generator broke aannddd the backup generator failed as well. There is another place we get it from, but it only produces 25% of our water. It was supposed to be shut off for everyone last night (so says the ugly rumors), but it's still pouring out strong. I'm now thinking we won't lose it at all, but just to be on the safe side... we have pitchers filled up with water, luckily we had plenty of bottled water so we didn't have to run out for that (I heard Walmart was a mad house), and filled up the tub so we could use that to flush with! I wish I could take credit for that genius idea, but a friend of mine suggested it. I don't know what we would have done, but I'm sure it wouldn't have been pretty..haha! I'm not sure if this still is from the ice storm.. but on that note.. schools around here are STILL out!!
I got my first email from our FRG leader out here! I just figured we didn't have an FRG group out here since it's just for training ( training... the past year of our lives...) but it does exist! So, I plan on getting involved in that! She made promises of lunch dates and pottery painting. I'm down!

Addyson Kay

There she is with daddy... trust me... lots more to come as soon as I can get my hands on them. Now off to find a cute little "I get my good looks from my auntie" onesies!
We miraculously made it through about 5 hours without power. All is well now it seems. I'm happy to have heat again. Hubs is happy to have TV.
Exciting Day!
It's storming like crazy around here today!! Right now I believe it's just rain and A TON of wind, but it doesn't look like it's far from turning into ice.. which is supposed to accumulate quite a bit. They haven't closed down post and said they were going to continue as normal today and of course that has me a nervous nelly. I have Trey there, expecting to be there all day, and the weatherman telling me that it's going to get bad and doesn't suggest any travel. Nice. Good thing hubs is pretty confident in his "bid dawg daddy" truck..... which btw I think you should all know... in it, this husband of mine at times listens to music such as Lady Gaga (he's loving her new song), Kelly Clarkson.. singing loudly.. "I want you to know.. that it doesn't matter", and best of all is when I realized last night that he knows all the words to Rihanna's new song (Hard) and we couldn't get out of the truck until it was over.... Yes, that's correct... my big strong Army, countrified husband has a secret pop music side and I find it to be the most hilarious thing in the world.

Answer Time
Jaci @ Perpetual Newlyweds asked me: When I was a child, what did I want to be when I grew up? When I was little I wanted to be either a Veterinarian or a Elementary school teacher. I don't remember exactly, but being a Vet I'm sure went out the window when I learned I had to do mean things, like put animals down or something. I still might like to finish my degree in Early Childhood Development maybe, so I'm not far off from my other dream. I still wonder what I want to be when I grow up! For right now, a mommy :)
Yollie27 (I think that's what you go by!) at The Awful Truth asked how I feel about possibly delivering our baby alone if Trey is deployed. hmm.. good question and I'll try to keep this as short as possible and be honest at the same time. Honestly? It scares the absolute crap out of me. We are moving to a new post when I will be about 6 or a little over more months pregnant. Hubs unit is already deployed and we are not sure if they will send him over to join them or just keep him Rear D (stay home). Selfishly, I want him to stay. He's torn. He of course wants to be here for me and the baby. He in no way wants to miss that, but he is also anxious to meet his unit. I'm terrified. I'm scared that I'll get there and will end up going in to labor alone. I'm scared I won't be able to get to the hospital. I'm scared to go through this and not have him to help with everything when it's all said and done. I REALLY want him to be able to experience all of this. Realistically, I know other wives will step up and help out. But it's not the same as your husband being there. And I am NOT good at depending on people! On the other hand, I have pressure from my parents to go home and get an apartment there if he leaves. I know it makes sense to do that, but as of right now.. I don't want to do that. But that's a whole 'nother post in and of itself. When it comes right down to it, I depend on my faith. When we decided we we're going to start trying, I prayed every single night. Not for God to give this to us right now because we want it and what mama wants mama gets, but for Him to give us this miracle of a gift when He knew we could handle it... when His timing was right. He gave it to us right away, literally. So I KNOW whatever comes our way, we can handle it. Knowing this makes me feel so much better when I really focus on it, but it doesn't always stop the worrying, of course. Great question, and thanks for checking out my blog!
Steph @ Watching Airplanes asked me two questions. The first was what is my favorite food? Girl, I LOVE me some food so this is not simple, one answer question! Pre-food aversion self, my favorite was always Mexican (quesedillas, nachos, tacos, yum!). Pizza, I can never ever turn pizza away. Waffles and Pancakes. Ice Cream. (It's a wonder I don't weight over 300 lbs.) Cucumbers and tomatoes, cut up with salt and pepper on them (cucumbers are best when you add a little vinegar). And anything with cream cheese as an ingredient. Now.. I eat what I can. Right now I'm very into carbs it seems. Bagels and cream cheese, spaghetti, tacos (if I make them at home, I can't seem to go into a Mexican restaurant), oranges, apples, Edemame beans, and this delish salad from buffalo wild wings.
Her second question was, What is my best memory as a child? This is a very hard one to answer.. I'm not sure if I'll be able to stick to just one. I had a great childhood! Of course, family vacations to Maine stick out. We would go every year and had so much fun. It's pretty simple, but I just remember being on the beach with my family... burying my mum's feet in the sand (child labor), seeing if I can swim out as far as my dad, and riding waves with my brother and us making "meatballs" together.. duh.. what else do you make in the sand? I had a great group of neighborhood friends. We spent hours and hours together, playing house, kick the can, "school", swimming, sledding, etc. We still keep in contact to this day, one of them even being one of my best friends to this day. I'm actually in her wedding this May! We lived in a duplex with my aunt, uncle and 3 cousins next door from when I was in 3rd grade up until we moved at the end of my 7th grade year. That made for some pretty awesome memories... just spending time together and of course our yearly lobster makes every summer! That was a fun question.. thanks!
Shelze @ Shelze's World asked how I feel our life has changed now that Trey and I have become part of the Army family? Another great and thought provoking question! Our life has changed IMMENSELY! I think the main thing that I've learned is not to take each other, friends, and family for granted. I think back to our life before he left for Basic and I just have to shake my head. I don't think either one of us appreciated each other half as much as we do now. I think of the insanely stupid things we used to fight over... and I mean knock down dragging kind of fights. That just doesn't happen anymore. And not because either one of us are holding back, all that time apart (almost 7 full months) just changed us.. for the better. Not to mention, it's changed the way I look at him. I don't know the right words for it, but I'm basically in awe of him. He's my very own hero (swoon)
It's also made me appreciate friends and family more as well. Everyone knows how infatuated I am with my family and I never in a million years imagined I'd have a long distance relationship with them!! So every second we get together, every minute we have to chat, and every time I get to see their faces on Skype... cherished! Let's see, I've always been able to chat up anyone.. even a fly on the wall, so I find it pretty easy to make friends, but it's funny how these other couples that you JUST MEET become SO important to you SO fast!! They are your family away from family and that is so comforting and so very important! Lastly, it's made me appreciate everyone else that lives this lifestyle that much more. Every single other soldier and the families that stand by to them have a very very special place in my heart.
Cindy @ Army Brats and Me asked what is one positive thing I would like to do as a Military Spouse? I cannot wait to get involved! It's been hard here, just because there is no real FRG group for his training unit. I've heard rumors one was trying to get together, but so far nothing! Anyways, when we get to new post, I plan to be very active in our FRG. I want to help out with as much as I can. I'm not sure what all is exactly involved in that.. you know.. besides what I see on Army Wives, but I so badly want to be a part of it.
SCH @ Uncommon Life, Uncommon Joy asked two questions as well. What do I enjoy most about Military life? There are a few things. I love the opportunity of travel that we have. Although, I do miss our families every.single.day... I'm very thankful to be able to see parts of the world that we may never have otherwise seen. Is the town we're in right now very exciting, NO not at all. But when else would I have ever gone to OKC? Or all the other little towns and places we've visited? I also love meeting new people which will be our life now. I love the fact that we meet other couples, and just being a part of this life, you have an instant connection and respect for each other. Her second question was What do I miss most about civilian life? Easy and simple answer. Being within driving distance of our families.
Kate @ Sometimes Life Is Messy asked: If I could go ANYWHERE in the world, where would it be and why? Easy one for me! Ireland!! Why? One... I have family history there. It's been said that my grandfather's family even had their own bar named McGrane's! (their last name) How cool is that? Two.. because I've just heard it's so stinking beautiful.. I'd jump at the chance to go!!
And last, but not least, Jennifer @ Crazy Shenanigans asked me what is one place I'd love to live and one place I'd never want to live. I'll base this one off of our recent post choices we were given.. or not given I guess. Two places I really really wanted to go were Fort Stewart, GA and Fort Carson, CO. Those choices were on some of our friends list but not ours. I was really hoping we'd get one of those, so I guess I can say for right now, that's where I would love to live! One of our choices was Korea and I DON'T ever want to live there! No thank you!
Thank you so much for participating in my Big 100 celebration.. I see I have a few new followers.. I'll be checking your blogs out soon :) This has already been a super long post.. I'll just finish up by letting you know 2 things: 1. There has been construction going on outside of our apartment for about a week and 1/2 now. Between their blaring radio, saws, and hammers, I am thisclose to going INSANE. 2. A blizzard is a comin' tomorrow!! We're expecting quite a mess! So if you don't hear from me for a while.. it's because our power is out and my laptop is incapable of holding battery power...

Reasons 232435 and 232436 why I love my husband
Reason number 232436 is this little interaction:
After waking up and realizing that it is not after all snowing (no need for that ice scraper I guess) but just really really cold out and raining, Trey walks in from yet another morning of PT soaking wet from said rain. He showers, I selfishly get a bowl of cereal for myself and plop down on the couch. He comes out and I hear him in the kitchen:
Me: Treeeyyyyy, are you making coffee??
T: Maayyyybeeeee
Me: YES!! I would have but I didn't even think about it.
T: breaks out in full enthusiastic rendition of "Who's yo daddyyy, who's your baby..." blah blah blah.
Off now to drink my hot coffee and try to work up the enthusiasm to go to the gym in that freezing rain. I wish working out was part of my job, like Trey, so I didn't have a choice!

Good Eats
Friday night I made homemade sloppy joes and used ground turkey burger instead of ground beef. They were delish!! I'm like 99% sure I got this recipe from Charlotte's blog, but I can't for the life of me find where she posted it up so I'm not completely sure. At any rate... here it is.. It made enough for us to have leftovers all weekend!
SLOPPY JOES
Ingredients:
Extra-virgin olive oil
1 large onion, diced
1 1/2 pounds lean ground turkey
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
2 cups ketchup
1/4 cup yellow mustard
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 tablespoon brown sugar
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
12 parker house rolls
Directions:
Set a heavy-based pot over medium-high heat and add a 3-count of olive oil. Add onions and saute for 2 to 3 minutes until translucent. Add ground turkey, season well with salt and pepper and brown well all over, breaking it up with a wooden spoon - about 7 to 10 minutes. Add ketchup, mustard, cayenne, brown sugar and tomato paste. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 to 12 minutes. Finish with a splash of red wine vinegar and season it once more before serving on parker rolls (or any large whole wheat buns).
I'm pretty positive that I'll never use regular ol' sloppy joe mix out of the can ever again!
Saturday night we had a couple friends over for the Bama/Carolina game (of which I had lots of mixed feelings over and can't say that I'm terribly disappointed that Carolina lost. Please no hate mail) so I just made some munchies. A dip made with ground sausage, package of cream cheese, and rotel and then a buffalo chicken pizza.
Sunday night I made Shepperd's Pie. My grandmother used to make this when her and my grandfather visited and I loved it! This one was made a little differently... let's just say I'm a little overly excited to have it for leftovers tonight. Here's the recipe for this one:
Ingredients:
1 tbs vegetable oil
1 onion, chopped
1lb lean ground beef
1 tsp dried basil
1 clove garlic, minced (I used two)
1 cup of corn
1 cup of tomatoes, diced
2 potatoes, cooked and mashed
1 egg, beaten
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350. Coat a 2-qt casserole dish with cooking spray
2. Heat oil in large skillet over medium heat. Cook onion in oil for 5 min, stirring frequently. Stir in the ground beef and basil, and cook and stir for 5 more minutes. Mix in the garlic, corn, and tomatoes, and simmer for 5 min. Transfer beef mixture to prepared dish.
3. In a mixing bowl, mix together the mashed potatoes, egg, and water. Spread evenly over meat mixture.
4. Bake in a preheated over for 15-20 minutes, or until potatoes start to brown on top (I had to do much longer for some reason) Sprinkle with cheese and continue cooking for 5 minutes.
Although it wasn't even close to being cold here, that was a great meal to eat after watching the Pats play a full football game and kicking some serious ass... in the SNOW!!!! Snow.. in October... I have a feeling it's going to be a long winter for some of us!

A Perfect Night and Free Samples
- I got home early (unheard of). Meaning I didn't go to the gym or work late.
- It's storming out pretty good right now. Have I ever mentioned how much I love thunderstorms?? *as long as I'm in the comfort of my house* It's pouring and the thunder is cracking.
- I have all the lights turned out, candles going, and the blinds on the window next to me open so I can see all the action.
- SYTYCD is on tonight!! The first night of the actual competition and not auditions so I'm really pumped over this. I'll be sure to let y'all know tomorrow who my faves are!
Now if only hubs could be cuddled up on the couch with me :)
I've gotten the strangest things in the mail for the past two days. Today I came home to a free energy efficient light bulb in the mailbox. But wait for it... the best part? It comes in a container that you can reuse as a piggy bank! Score!! Even more strange? Yesterday I was lucky enough to receive a free pad in the mail. Like as in a maxi pad. No thanks guys, I don't think I've used one of those since I was 15. But I really do appreciate the thought.

Rain Rain Go Away... Please!
Last night was very refreshing. After work I went with friends, J & C, to the church they go to. They had a big ... event I guess you can call it??... about missionary work (which I have been pretty interested in) There is a young couple that goes to church there that have been living in Africa for a couple of years. They are there with 2? children.. maybe 3.. and one on the way. The preacher was talking to them over the internet for us all to hear, although it was very hard to hear them, very muffled, we could all get the gist of it though. Their goal is to build churches over there and to bring people to Christ. It was very interesting to hear how they are raising their children and just to hear about their lifestyle really. They also had different foods there, a band playing, the little kiddies were dancing around with the band, and the childrens choir got up and sang a couple songs... which was so so cute!
After that the three of us went to eat some Mexican *we didn't eat much at the church* and then went to J's parents house for a bit. Our plan was originally to pick up a pie (since she's been pregnant that's all i've heard her talk about is pie pie pie) :)
But we ended up staying for a while. Somehow we got on the topic of Christianity and ended up talking for a least an hour. We were asking them alll kinds of questions. They are very very strong Christians and seem to have an answer for everything. I definately want to go back over there when we all have more time to talk! I'd love to sit and pick their brains for hours!
I hope everyone is enjoying their weekends and hopefully your weather is a little less dreadful than ours is!!

Uumm excuse me??
I have been meaning to come on here all week to thank KLC, over at Tales of a Northern Belle for the sweet award she gave me! (thanks girl!) But I have been so so so busy!!

This award states:
The award states: "These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers. Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award."
Please don't make me list 8 people!! Everyone deserves it, so if you'd like to post it.. it's yours :)
I am vvveeerrrryyy much ready for this weekend! Our company isn't closed Monday, but I took the day off since Trey has it. 3 day weekend!!! Tomorrow night we're having our friends, C & J, over. It will not be anywhere near as crazy as our trip to Manning though :) I'm making a yummy dinner in the crock-pot. Nothing special. It's my signature chicken dish bc I just couldn't think of anything original to make. But it's very delish and it will be nice and warm since it will be so cold out. We're also renting a couple movies and will watch them with our dinner and a nice fire going. Sounds just about perfect right now!! Saturday I'll be cleaning house and going to see Twilight once again with my MIL. I got her into the whole series and she's dying to see it.. I'm not complaining!!
Real quick Trey update: He went to the recruiting station twice this week, once to just fill out some paper work. Another time to take a drug test. Trust me.. he passed. The kids never touched anything in his life. Unless he sometimes counts "that one time he might have the green stuff but didn't know what he was doing so he doesn't think he did it" HA!!

I need to learn how to kill a roach.
It's Friday night and pretty chilly here! I'm pretty sure it'll be in the low 30's tonight. Perfect time to get a fire going I say! Hub got right to work getting that done and the fire is blazing :)
What in the world am I going to do when he leaves??? I don't think about the little things like that ( making fires, raking the leaves, WHAT IF I SEE A ROACH????!!!! ) Why am I so confident he's leaving you ask?
Wednesday was the big "fo real" ASVAB day. Remember.. he had to score a 110 to get into OCS. He got done with the test around 4:30. Called me and said he should know the results in about an hour. Great! I didn't think they'd come back that fast. So I'm all excited/nervous. An hour goes by.. no word. Three hours go by.. nothing. I .. of course.. am freaking out. I needed to know right that minute. But it just wasn't happening. Trey... the ever calm and patient one.. wasn't sweating it too much. So last night (thursday) we finally heard back and he got a 117!!! Aren't yall proud of him??? I sure am :) I guess the next step is him going to fill out paperwork next week. Then I think a physical. Then he has to go in front of a board of OCS people to see if he will be accepted in. So there are still a lot of "ifs" but we're one step closer.
What surprises me about this whole thing ~ We're not getting very positive reactions out of people when we tell them what's going on. We're not even telling many people (close friends, family, my hairdresser (teehee) ) But most of them have kind of freaked when we've told them. Especially towards me. Basically questioning me.. whether or not I'll be able to handle it. But not in like a caring, concerned tone of voice. More so like a higher pitched, louder voice, scrunched up face, "are you kidding me" tone of voice. (that was the best description I could come up with).
Of course there's a big part of me that is terrified and want to go crying and screaming to my mamma! But there's also a big part of me that is, dare I say, excited. And an even bigger part of me that wants/needs to support her husband. This is something he really wants to do. I've never seen him so confident in himself. He wants to be proud of himself. He wants to do something to support his future family. He's stepping up to the plate and doing something he's always dreamed of doing. Another thing people ask me is "aren't you afraid he'll die over there". Funny thing, but no, I'm not. Is there a chance he will.. of course. But there's a chance he could die on his way to work. There's a chance he could die sitting next to me watching TV. I think my faith in God is what pulls me through here. That comforts me to no end. God has a plan for all of us. If Trey's time is up then it's up, whether is here working a job he hates or he's off doing something he loves. He already knows what He has planned for us. I don't mean to sound insensitive or cold, and of course I would just die myself if something ever did happened to him. I'm just saying that I feel in my heart that it won't. And I feel that God has provided me with that comfort. So that is why I don't worry about that. I'm seriously more worried about seeing a roach and not being able to do my usual stand on whatever I was sitting on, screaming out for Trey to kill it routine.
Well I spent much more time on this topic than I planned on so I think I'll cut it short for now. Time to go cuddle up by the fire!!
